Tooth Growth

ktdThe first teeth, the two bottom front teeth, appear when you child is six to eight months old. The two top front teeth are the next to pop up. Then the remaining sixteen teeth will appear over the next two years.  Those baby, or primary, teeth need to stay clean and healthy until they start being replaced by permanent teeth when happens around age six.

Baby teeth are important because they:

* Hold a space for the permanent teeth

*They are important in chewing, biting (but not big sisters), speech and appearance.

All the permanent teeth are usually in position between the ages of 12 and 14.  Wisdom teeth do not normally appear until age 17 or so giving adults their full set of 32 teeth.
